3" tall by 1.75" wide, vinyl sticker of a pink Blackberry-style phone that has a bit of screen damage and reads "C(r)apitalism." This is a collaboration piece between Death's Head Divination and Slow Mornings Co., with DHD creating the design.
What is C(r)apitalism and why center technology? Slow Mornings Co.'s slogan is meant to address the harm caused by capitalism, which extracts resources from people and land to benefit the few at the top. In order to survive under it though, we need to center laborers and creators while divesting from big corporations through accessible means. The design is meant to bring to light the constant production of new phones and computers that aren't necessary and break easily while creating them with exploitative means to avoid paying fair wages. Survival in such a system includes mutual aid networks, community free fridges, gardens, and shifts in values.
While we agree that stickers aren't the answer to the environmental impact of Capitalism, they are accessible means to supporting small artists & organizers and getting messages to every corner of the earth.
To do this, we would like to donate $1 of every sale to Friends of the Congo, a 501(c)(3) advocacy organization working with Congolese to bring change to the DRC; where cobalt is mined for phones and computers alike through exploitative and destructive means.
We are also organizing a directory where you can submit your local free and/or inclusive resources for those that may need it or want to donate and support. Submit here at https://forms.gle/4PVJ6EFysyH4fSnM7
Sticker sales for this design go directly towards DHD and SMC, both chronically ill creators, who are organizing these donations and resources.
All stickers are original digital art by Death's Head Divination. Vinyl stickers are rated to survive up to 3 years as waterproof and UV-resistant, but if you would like to prolong them, keep them in a sticker book!
All stickers will be mailed as untracked stamped letter mail.
